Can you believe it’s been months since I’ve written any blog posts?! Trust me, it’s not what I wanted for this space at all, it’s just that I’ve been in the biggest creative block of my life. However, as I work towards getting myself out of this rut, I’ve compiled a list of blog ideas that I know I’ll enjoy writing in the hopes of getting better at taking time out of my week to sit down and spend time on my blog baby.
To start, I thought it’d be cool to write down ten things my followers probably don’t know about me! So, read on, and introduce yourself in the comments with something interesting about yourself!
1. I used to speak Spanish pretty well, but over the years I’ve almost completely lost that ability.
It’s true, although I can’t hold a conversation in Spanish, I can pick up on certain words and I’ll almost always understand what you’re saying. Sometimes I can even read in Spanish, but for some reason, I just can’t get the words to come out of my mouth. I think some of the reason is that I become super anxious when I’m asked to speak and my brain just goes blank. Also, ever since I was little my family used to make it a big deal whenever I’d say one word and I hated it. Anyway, I know it’s my fault and I’ve tried to learn it again, but it just doesn’t stick.
2. I taught myself how to play the guitar when I was younger, and I owe it all to Guitar Hero 3.
I started teaching myself how to play the guitar when I was around 10-ish. Although I was really into it for a long time, it’s been years since I’ve played. (It’s still sitting in my closet though!) When I first started playing, I taught myself how to play with just three fingers on the fretboard instead of four, because…well, it just felt right. My little pinky wasn’t strong enough to hold down the strings, and for some reason, I just couldn’t control it? I’m weird, I know. Anyway, thanks to Guitar Hero, I was able to exercise my pinky and make it strong enough to play correctly. So thank you Red Octane/Activision!
3. There was a time in my life where I was spending between $100-$200 a week on Starbucks. Yep, you read that right.
Quick disclaimer: I definitely don’t do this anymore, and I have no clue how I was able to afford my coffee addiction. (That’s a lie, I used my credit cards.) Anyway, this was 4 years ago when I lived in Gainesville, FL. My daily routine included buying a Starbucks coffee before class, and before work…every day. That’s not even a lot of coffee, but because I was too lazy to make it myself my poor wallet was a slave to the mermaid.
4. I believe in the paranormal, and I’ve got my own little ghost story to tell.
Honestly, I live for ghost shows. (My favorite is Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel!) I’m a firm believer that ghosts and demons exist, and there’s nothing you guys can do to convince me otherwise. I’ve seen a figure standing in my hallway, and my mom has told me stories of an old spirit that lived in our first home, but those are stories for another time!
5. I’ve never broken a bone, but I have cut my foot up so bad I had to wear a boot. It wasn’t fun.
I’ll spare you the details on this one, but please don’t throw glass bottles into the ocean, okay?
6. I like making slime. Yes, I understand that I am 24 years old but it’s fun, okay?
Just like some people like ASMR, I like making slime. It’s fun, inexpensive, and I don’t care who thinks I’m a weirdo now!
7. I have a black belt in karate, and a certificate to prove it (for the haters).
That certificate is hiding somewhere in my closet, but I swear it’s true! No one ever believes me, but I actually practiced karate for about 5-ish years, maybe more. It was a long time ago, so don’t ask me to show you any moves. I like to think that I could still win in a fight though. I wish I had photos easily accessible to show you guys!
8. I’m the biggest self-critic you’ll ever meet.
My brain is filled with self-deprecating jokes and I can’t help it! I’m not only critical about myself and what I wear, but I’m the same way with anything I create. By that, I mean Instagram posts, blogs, drawings, paintings, etc. I’m working really hard on not being this way though. If you have any tips on going through a successful self-love journey, send them my way!
9. I have social anxiety.
“You’re so quiet,” is something I hear constantly. I get so nervous when I’m around people, and it makes me dread going to any events…especially if I have to go alone! I hate feeling nervous and afraid about saying something dumb and being judged for it. I’m just one of those people that thinks everyone dislikes them, and it’s the main reason why I’m so bad at creating/maintaining friendships. I’m a “love from a distance/I’m rooting for you on the sidelines” type of acquaintance.
Quick shoutout to my fiancé! I’m so thankful for Christopher and the fact that he puts up with me on a daily basis! He’s truly my best friend.
10. I love going to Disney, and I’m not sorry about it.
People love making fun of adults who love Disney. Well, I’m one of them, and I’m totally not ashamed. Disney is such a great place to escape the real world. Y’all, Disney magic is real, and I have so many blog ideas that revolve around Disney World and how to make the most of your stay, so look out for those if you’re interested! Anyway, there’s nothing better than being surrounded by insanely themed “worlds” and snacking on some mouse-shaped treats.
Well, those are my 10 facts! Did you think this post was interesting? Let me know! Now it’s your turn. Tell me something about yourself in the comments!
